History

Picture
Timothy Nuss founded Elevensance in 2008 while attenting Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. It all started with 45 cases of 2006 Napa Valley Zinfandel. Elevensance allowed him to join two of his passions in this world together; his knowledge and love for both Reggae and Wine. He was a wine and viticulture major while at Cal Poly and all around lover of the San Luis Obisbo vibe. Since he rejoined the wine industry and the Napa Valley in December of 2009 he has kept the Reggae Red movement going strong and seen the Reggae Red Family grow.

Tim was born in Santa Rosa and was raised, schooled, and learned the ropes of life in the Napa Valley. He spent much of his childhood in Sonoma too, so he is a well rounded Wine Country product . Having an intimate knowledge and respect for the land where he is from is reflected in his wine. Tim works closely with his family everyday on their small family owned and operated wine label known as Vinoce Vineyards. www.vinoce.com. Everything is done by the family; from the growing, to the wine making to the sales. Truly family owned and operated.

Tim has been involved with the growing of vines and the making of wine practically his entire life with his family.

But has developed quite a knowledge and philosophy of his own. One of his greatest influences was his time spent learning of wine at Cal Poly. But he has also spent a lot of time working at different wineries. He first started pulling wine hoses and doing fermentation pump overs at Robert Craig winery at the tender age of 16. (Yes the reggae was on even then.)
He has also worked in the Bio-Dynamic side of the wine world with winemaker Rudy Zedima at Ellhers Estate. Tim has  worked at Ballentine Vineyards and still spends time working up there today. He has worked with many different types of grapes and learned many different practices along his young journey in the wine world.

The Reggae Red Family consists of wine lovers, wine enthusiasts, wine makers, artists, musicians, singers of music, D.J's and anybody who enjoys the Elevensance Reggae Red Vibe.

Philosophy

The Elevensance Philosophy is to make a wine that truly reflects the area from which it is from. Otherwise we are leading to uniformity and not truly doing the grape and the final product the wine justice. We are the believers that in the winery we are the helpful guide from grape to wine. We do not try and fight the grapes natural transformation from grape juice to wine. To much intervention in the winery will lead to uniformation and not enought representation of that special piece of land. We strive to find that perfect symmetry between science and art. We still believe we are a long ways off from finding that but we hope you enjoy our glorified grape juice that makes you happy in the mean time.
